First debuting in 2018, the adidas Y-3 Kaiwa quickly became popular among Yohji Yamamoto’s devoted fans thanks to its combination of a sleek ninja-like upper with a high-cut tongue and an on-trend chunky midsole. Adidas Y-3 Herren/Damen Now, it’s set to make its 2019 debut in a new colorway that any avid Y-3 advocate is sure to be familiar with: a stark black. The upper’s forefoot and midfoot are dressed in a crisp leather, but the collar and heel forgo that traditional construction, instead opting for a sleek and stretchy neoprene with a suede heel tab. The high-cut tongue then provides the only deviation from the tonal palette, featuring a printed white Y-3 hit with Yamamoto’s signature stitched across the top.
The two prevailing trends in sneakers right now are being tackled head on by Yohji Yamamoto’s Adidas Y-3 Schuhe sub-label this upcoming Fall/Winter 2018 season as a series of footwear has been unveiled at Paris Fashion Week. The deconstructed aesthetic, which features exposed stitching and panels to the point where the shoes almost looked entirely flipped inside out, is heavily present in this new batch of footwear. Additionally, the chunky “dad shoe”look is also a common theme with some of the silhouettes, which appear to take on the Feet Your Wear look that will be seen in the upcoming adidas Crazy BYW 1.
Often standing right on the line between technical and casual, Adidas Y-3 Deutschland takes the timeless tennis staple, the Stan Smith, and translates it into Yohji Yamamoto’s own design language. Simplistic throughout and quite true to form — only upon first glance — the pair is a stripped down reimagining of the aforementioned as all overlays are completely removed for a kit smooth in its every stitch, or rather, the lack thereof. Toe boxes incorporate the rounded toe in a construction of smooth white leathers; eye stay outline in straight to zig-zag perforations while the loose outlines of a heel tab arrives debossed with the “Y-3” logo.
Following its foray into basketball footwear with James Harden, Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 line is back where it is comfortable – on the streets. Next up for this illustrious label is another adidas project that matches progressive Japanese craftsmanship with breakthrough Digital Light Synthesis technology. Adidas Y-3 Günstig Introducing the Y-3 Runner 4D, a Primeknit upper-infused runner with leather overlays and the same 4D printed midsole as the popular Futurecraft 4D.
In the Kauf Adidas Y-3, adidas branding can be seen in a relatively unconventional way as it is represented by cords along the midfoot that lock the consumers feet in place for increased support. This is just one of many sneakers that will utilize the 4D sole, as adidas plans on featuring it in hundreds of thousands of pairs for consumers. Select retailers like END. will be holding in-store drawings for the rights to purchase a pair.
