The main component of hydrophobic coatings are nanoparticles, that is, small particles of matter. Silicon particles are used in hydrophobic coatings. What distinguishes nanoparticles is how they bind, the atoms of nanoparticles are artificially bound in a way that is not found in nature. The new structure means new possibilities - the properties of nanoparticles, as well as their small size, which allows them to reach hard-to-reach places, open up countless applications in medicine and industry - most of them are still unknown. The innovative potential of nanoparticles is used by manufacturers to create hydrophobic coatings, impregnations and anti-odor preparations. The free spaces in the structure of nanoparticles are large enough to ensure the free exchange of water vapor.

Additionally, silver particles are added to the impregnation. Nano-silver is used to create antibacterial properties, it is bacteria that are responsible for the formation of unpleasant odors in materials. Thanks to hydrophobic impregnation, moisture, snow, road salt, mold and any other substances harmful to fabrics and skin do not affect the protective layer of clothing and accessories, significantly extending their service life.
The protective layer formed by hydrophobic products fits snugly to the impregnated surface, perfectly protecting it from getting wet, and at the same time leaving an invisible coating that does not reduce the comfort of using clothes. Thus, the preserved surface remains clean and resistant to many types of contamination and damage, without changing the texture and color of materials.
The most interesting property of hydrophobic drugs is the so-called lotus effect. Lotus leaves are waterproof, so that dirt does not actually settle on them, just a little water is enough to return the leaf to its original, clean state. A similar effect is given by hydrophobic impregnations – the impregnation displaces water, which gives the material a self-cleaning effect.
