Ludwig-USA TODAY SportsThe Green Bay Packers and new head coach Matt LaFleur have their coordinators set. On Wednesday, the team officially announced the hiring of Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator, and Mike Pettine returns to lead the defense in 2019. Special teams is still a work in progress, but the leaders on offense and defense are officially aboard. With those decisions finalized, LaFleur must prioritize his position coach hires, and it appears that the offensive line coach is number one on that list. News broke on Wednesday about a pair of coaches who could be in the running to succeed James Campen, the former OL coach who left for the same position (with an added associate head coach title) with the Cleveland Browns. The first name is Adam Stenavich, who has been the assistant offensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers for the past two seasons. Stenavich has worked under LaFleur mentor Kyle Shanahan during that time, making the connection between him and the Packers’ head coach clear. Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports reports that Shanahan has agreed to allow Stenavich to interview with the Packers, presumably because the move would be an upward one for him.In addition Womens Ray Nitschke Jersey , Stenavich has some Packers-specific connections. According to his bio on 49ers.com, he is a Marshfield native. Stenavich also spent about six weeks on the Packers’ practice squad in 2006, his first year out of college, and he was an All-Big Ten left tackle for the University of Michigan in 2004 and 2005.Another name mentioned in connection with the Packers is former Jets’ offensive line coachRick Dennison, who has extensive experience as an NFL offensive coordinator. Dennison worked with Mike Shanahan with the Denver Broncos for over a decade, serving as a special teams coach, offensive line coach, and offensive coordinator. He later joined up with Gary Kubiak in Houston as offensive coordinator, following him to Baltimore and back to Denver. Finally, Dennison’s last two years were spent as the Bills’ offensive coordinator (in 2017) and the New York Jets’ offensive line coach.ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted that the Packers “have interest” in Dennison, presumably to coach the offensive line. As with Stenavich, there’s a clear line of connection between Dennison and LaFleur Womens Aaron Rodgers Jersey , running through both Kubiak and the elder Shanahan. He would also be able to provide some additional perspective as a coordinator, thanks to his ten years in that role in the NFL. Keep an eye on these two names in the coming days, as it appears that the OL coaching position is one of LaFleur’s top priorities for the time being. While the OL coach search comes into focus, we also have more information about the status of two Packers assistants still under contract for 2019. First is running backs coach Ben Sirmans, who has held that title in Green Bay for the past three years. LaFleur has apparently decided to retain Sirmans for next season, according to Demovsky. Sirmans has been largely responsible for developing Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, while also helping Ty Montgomery transition from wide receiver to the backfield. The other news is not as good for a Packers assistant, as quarterbacks coach Frank Cignetti is out after one year with the team according to Tom Silverstein. Cignetti took over for the departed Alex Van Pelt in 2018, but Aaron Rodgers’ struggles in 2018 and LaFleur’s background with quarterbacks makes it an unsurprising decision. GREEN BAY, Wis. — Packers coach Mike McCarthy appreciates how veteran receiver Randall Cobb excels at doing the little things in practice, such as perfecting his footwork and timing. If Cobb can just get over his hamstring injury, he might be able to help on the field Antonio Morrison Jersey White , too, with the Packers desperately trying to keep their longshot playoff hopes alive.Packers CoverageBucks’ Wes Matthews loves Wisconsin, is a Vikings fanPreview: Packers look to slow Vikings’ revitalized run gameTop Tweets: Yelich thanks fans for support after season-ending injuryAmos sparks rebuilt Packers defense in debutPackers to be tested again by familiar foe in Zimmer, VikingsPackers’ new-look defense carries offense in season openerPackers Snap Counts: New coach LaFleur gets TEs involvedUpon Further Review: Packers at BearsPHOTOS: Packers at BearsDefense leads the way as Packers top Bears in openerCobb practiced again on Thursday as the Packers get ready to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.Out since Week 9, Cobb has been limited to just five games this year because of the lingering hamstring injury. His history with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and ability to get open in traffic could help especially in giving the Packers (4-6-1) another target on third down. Green Bay is just 24th in the league on third down conversions (37 percent).“You go down on a Wednesday of practice, you’re in a unit drill, and you’re kind of at whatever speed you’re going, and he’s out there doing all the little things exactly right,” said McCarthy, who singled out Cobb as a mentor for young receivers.“Well it would be great to get Randall back. I think today will give us some information,” McCarthy said.Looking good as of Thursday, when Cobb was limited for a second straight day.“I think there’s a pretty good chance Womens Marcedes Lewis Jersey ,” Cobb said. “I think this is the best I felt in a long time, so I’m excited to get back out there.”The versatile Cobb has caught seven of 11 targets on third down this year, averaging 17.9 yards a catch. In his career, Cobb has 125 receptions on 188 targets on third down, averaging 14.2 yards and converting 92 first downs. He worked out before the loss at Minnesota before being held out. Cobb was just a spectator when the Packers converted just 2 of 10 on third down.“Pick up whatever the third and down distance is,” Cobb said when asked about getting better on third down. “That’s all it really comes down to is finding a way to move the sticks. That’s just executing when it comes down to making the plays.”Besides Cobb, the Packers also don’t have Geronimo Allison because of a season-ending groin injury. Tight end Jimmy Graham is trying to play through a thumb injury. That has meant more attention to No. 1 wideout Davante Adams , who is still good enough to have already reached career highs of 1,022 yards on 77 catches. Rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown have had to take more snaps, with mixed results.Rodgers spoke this week about taking some “calculated risks”. Lately, that has meant moving Adams around to different spots; getting running back Aaron Jones the ball in space; and working in Graham.Plus, Rodgers added Womens Geronimo Allison Jersey , “hopefully getting Randall back this week, which would be a big boost for us.”Especially on third downs.“If that means breaking a tackle, making a guy miss or hitting the open man or whatever that is, we’ve got to find a way just to make sure we’re taking care of our jobs,” he said.NOTES: Left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) returned to practice as a limited participant, an encouraging sign after McCarthy said he thought Rodgers’ blind-side protector might focus on rehab on Thursday. It’s important with the Packers getting ready to face Cardinals pass-rusher Chandler Jones (11 sacks). Starting left guard Lane Taylor (quad) was also limited. … Bashaud Breeland (groin) returned to practice, while fellow CB Kevin King (hamstring) was limited for a second straight day. … Graham was limited.
