Clippers can’t match the Knicks in 110-102 loss on the road
21 March 2022 - 06:40 PM
Although the Clippers were ready to work for another win in New York Marcus Morris Sr. Jersey, so were their opponents, as the Knicks had lost three in a row at home prior to this matchup. Perhaps the early-afternoon start time contributed, but the Clippers were unable to build off of their win against the 76ers with a 110-102 loss against the Knicks.Ivica Zubac immediately made an impact for the Clippers once the game got started, with his patented jump hook getting more consistent as each game goes by. Despite the firepower from players like Zubac and Nicolas Batum, the Knicks were even hotter, having hit seven of their eight attempts from beyond the arc in that quarter alone. It didn’t cause a double-digit lead, but it set the stage for another game that called for a comeback to keep things competitive. The Knicks controlled much of the second quarter primarily due to an advantage on the offensive boards, but 11 straight points from the Clippers cut the deficit to just two with about three minutes to go in the half https://www.lacprost...ngton_Jersey-27. Ultimately, the point differential grew to five as the buzzer sounded, but plays like the following helped shift the momentum to favor the Clippers. We see you rook BallySportWest | bboston_ LA Clippers January 23, 2022Unfortunately, the Clippers were unable to close the gap in the third their shooting from behind the arc was below 23 percent, and their lack of inside penetration prevented them from making the most of being in the bonus for most of the quarter. It never got out of hand, and it was a three-possession game with just under three minutes to go https://www.lacprost...eorge_Jersey-25, but there was simply not enough time left on the clock for the Clippers to stage a comeback. Their shortcomings on the offensive boards, as well as their low shooting percentage from the free throw line contributed to their loss, but the fallout from this game isn’t all negative. Reggie Jackson seems to be approaching some consistency on the floor that the Clippers desperately need, and Ivica Zubac is quickly establishing himself to be an integral part of the Clippers core now all that’s left is for them to turn those personal improvements into team wins. -
Celtics' Exchange Alternatives Section II: Facilitators
21 March 2022 - 06:40 PM
Sad to say, investing Dennis Schroder Gilbert Arenas Jersey, a Excellent participant, nevertheless one particular who doesnt protect possibly of those people desires and will garner even more financially rewarding specials upon the open up marketplace than Boston can generate him this summer months, is a a good idea stream. Based upon the return, undertaking therefore would develop additional minutes for Payton Pritchard, which would guidance this staff towards further than the arc. When the expectation isnt that he gets the caliber of participant Hamilton was, managing him off displays in direction of free of charge him up for images versus outside of the arc is a even more correct direction for the Celtics in direction of evaluate what it includes inside of the previous lottery choose. Accomplishing as a result would too insert a contemporary aspect in the direction of Bostons offense and may well assist them enhance in opposition to extensive number.Talking over the Celtics struggles within crunch year the moment their existing reduction towards the San Antonio Spurs, Jaylen Brown claimed: I which include enjoying throughout the bigs. I such as actively playing in the course of Al and Rob ; people gentlemen are superb playmakers https://www.wwprosto...Unseld_Jersey-8. And relying upon how groups secure us, thats a direction in direction of attain some superior seems and some simpler baskets, really than almost everything ingesting towards be isolation or every thing taking toward be a complicated motivation and kick. Weve obtained toward adhere with that at situations. Once in a while, we including feeding on the ball in just our fingers https://www.wwprosto...hnson_Jersey-32, etc, however enjoying in the course of some of all those adult men are very good for us and superior for our staff.Josh Richardson can additionally deliver for teammates off the dribble, and Grant Williams can do a lot more as a facilitator than hes questioned towards do. Inside volume, Bostons skilled of transferring the ball much added efficiently than often is the scenario. However if the Celtics require in direction of increase upon the margins in direction of spur progress inside of that section, they may well swing a package deal for Josh Hart of the Refreshing Orleans Pelicans. The prior Villanova Wildcat is averaging 4.5 will help for every video game and 8.7 future will help for each contest, in accordance towards NBA.com. Harts much too chipping within just 12.9 facts for each match upon 9.1 photos and grabbing an regular of 7.4 rebounds. Hes not significantly of a 3-stage shooter -- hes hoisting 2.9 extended-variety endeavours this year and manufacturing 34.1 % of them -- yet alongside with what the 5th-calendar year veteran gives as a facilitator and upon the glass, hes a top quality defender, far too.One more decision that may possibly intrigue the Celtics is Tyus Jones. The previous Duke Blue Devil backs up Ja Morant upon the Memphis Grizzlies, nonetheless he continue to dishes out 4.1 will help and makes 8.3 long term can help, for each NBA https://www.wwprosto...ey_Jr_Jersey-38.com. Jones would supply veteran savvy, and he way too averages 8 info for each activity and shoots 38.9 % in opposition to further than the arc upon 2.4 initiatives for each contest. Finally, Cory Joseph of the Detroit Pistons might be a participant that appeals towards Boston. Continue to, 1 would argue its extra valuable in direction of maintain regardless of what small means it would get towards establish him and place any minutes he would order against Pritchards progress. -
The Rap-Up: Fake trades are silly but fun
21 March 2022 - 06:39 PM
With the All-Star reserves set to be announced this week and my opinion on who should make the East roster discussed last week, I'm going to use these next two editions of The Rap-Up to resurrect my favourite gimmick: dumb trade machine ideas involving Toronto Raptors opponents!A couple of caveats before diving into them:OG Anunoby & Scottie Barnes are 100% untouchable OG Anunoby Jersey. Their skill sets and contracts are simply perfect foundational pieces.Fred VanVleet & Pascal Siakam are 99% untouchable . Since a top-5 talent is currently not pining for a trade, it's safe to assume the team's core four will remain intact for the foreseeable future.Say what you will about Goran Dragic's absence from the team, but he's essentially been gifted a second off-season. He'll be ready to go for any team that needs his services for the playoff push. There are multiple teams that are waiting for him to be bought out. If those teams want to avoid a bidding war, they could “dump” an unwanted contract on the Raptors. Toronto has the cap space to take on an extra year. That's my long-winded way of saying Dragic's trade value isn't completely dead.January 31Atlanta HawksThis game was originally scheduled a day later, but Toronto fell victim to some schedule reshuffling from an earlier Heat-Spurs postponement. After all these years, Kyle Lowry and Jakob Poeltl are still affecting Raptors games.Three weeks ago Fred VanVleet Jersey, the Hawks were easily the most disappointing team in the league. After finishing two wins short of an NBA Finals appearance, hopes were sky-high for the Hawks heading into this season. However, the team's defense took a nose-dive, Nate McMillan's carriage turned back into a pumpkin, and suddenly every Hawk not named Trae Young was appearing in trade rumours. The scapegoat was Cam Reddish, who was traded to New York shortly after the Hawks lost to the Heat, dropping to 17-23. His carelessness on the defensive end led to his demise and also signaled to the league that Atlanta was ready to turn things around. The Hawks are 7-2 since the Reddish trade, with victories over the Bucks, Heat, Celtics, and Lakers.Fun fact fake trade that may only interest meDON'T close the page! I swear this is my worst fake trade. With Sacramento bowing out of the Simmons sweepstakes, the best available player on the trade market may be Collins. Once Daryl Morey is fined for tampering with James Harden, he'll soon realize that waiting until the off-season may be too late, especially with Joel Embiid having an MVP-calibre season. Morey surely won't want to waste another year of his superstar's prime. Collins' presence alone would relieve pressure from Embiid. The move also allows Tobias Harris to transition back to the Small Forward position and form a massive frontcourt trio.In this deal, Atlanta seeks help from Toronto to grease the wheels by adding a veteran point guard who can slide straight into a Sixth Man role as Tyrese Maxey's backup and a young point guard who can grow through Philadelphia's development system .For Toronto, this closes the book on Dragic and Flynn, who hadn't made the strides in his second season that the Raptors were hoping he would. Gallinari offers exactly what the doctor, err, Nurse ordered, as a much-needed scorer off the bench.PredictionThe game plan for both teams seems fairly simple. For Toronto, create turnovers and get out in transition. Atlanta has the second-worst transition defense, ranking 29th in points allowed per transition opportunity. For Atlanta, be aggressive! The Hawks are excellent at getting to the line, ranking 4th in free-throw rate. The Hawks swept the season series last year, but last I checked, the Tampa season wasn't real. After removing those 3 games, the Raptors have won the last 10 straight against Atlanta. On the flip side, the Hawks have won 7 straight and starting to look like the team that surprised the East last year. Despite playing on a back-to-back, only Young played more than 27 minutes. The Hawks use a large free-throw advantage to prevail over the Raptors, 119-115.February 1 vs Miami HeatThis game was originally scheduled two days earlier. Now it's the back-end of a road-home back-to-back Fred VanVleet Jersey. Thanks for nothing, COVID!For what it's worth, the Heat will also be playing the 2nd of a back-to-back. In fact, this will be their 4th game in 5 nights. One of those four games, of course, was the epic battle that took place on Saturday against Toronto. I'm not sure which was my favourite moment. The double-block by Pascal Siakam on the man he's chasing for an All-Star reserve spot? Scottie Barnes' pressure-packed free throws that forced overtime? Gary Trent Jr.'s fearless drive into the teeth of two of Miami's toughest defenders, drawing a foul and subsequently tying the game on free throws? OG Anunoby's tie-preserving steal in the dying seconds of the first overtime? Fred VanVleet's 29' foot three-pointer that gave Toronto the lead in the second overtime? All of those plays happened in the clutch. All of those players played at least 54 minutes. No team has ever had 5 players play at least 50 minutes in the same game in NBA history. Whether or not that ends up being the turning point of the season, the performance solidified a number of items:Toronto can compete against any team even the East's #1 squadHaving multiple options in the clutch will be impossible for opponents to defend and wondrous for Nick Nurse's end-of-game play-calling.The Raptors need help from the bench, hence, the reason for this week's fake trades gimmickFun fact fake trade that may only interest meHave I lost all credibility? The joke's on you I never had any!Miami gets the secondary creator they need plus incite some nostalgia by bringing Tim Hardaway's son on board. Dallas finally gets Dragic on the team while also swinging for the fences in hopes that Sabonis is what helps elevate the Mavericks to championship contenders https://www.trprosto...nvleet_Jersey-8. This one's a no-brainer for Toronto that doesn't need further analysis. Justifying this for Indiana is tougher, but the writing's been on the wall for a while. The Pacers un-clog their frontcourt, Myles Turner gets the extra usage he craves, Robinson aims to re-discover his shot with Malcolm Brogdon setting him up, and Flynn gets a better shot at rotation minutes.PredictionMiami kicks off a 6-game road trip the night before in Boston. As pointed out last week, the Heat have struggled with zero days rest, now 2-6 after Saturday's defeat. Tyler Herro may not shoot 5-for-22 again, but the defenders that annoyed him most, Anunoby and Barnes , aren't going anywhere either. Butler, forever Raptor killer, made a field goal against all 7 Raptors that tried defending him! He did, however, suffer a right ankle sprain during Saturday's game and is questionable to play in Boston on Monday. A less-than-100% Butler is not great news for a Miami team that's hit hard with absences. Toronto beats Miami for the second time this week, prevailing 103-100.February 3 vs Chicago BullsThis is the makeup game from the Boxing Day postponement that would've seen Toronto face an injury-depleted Chicago squad Toronto Raptors Custom Jersey. With Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Derrick Jones Jr. still out , the Bulls still come to town short-handed.This game is also the front-end of a road back-to-back for Chicago. It could be the latest edition of “will everyone cross the border or will some players meet the team at their next destination?” I'm not one to make any judgments, but for the purpose of this preview, I'll assume no one additional will be missing.Fun fact fake trade that may only interest meRaptors get their backup Point Guard and traditional Center at the expense of the team's best reserve. Boucher has never looked better in a Raptors uniform yes, I remember all the 30-point games he had last season. He's finally carved out his role on the team. However, I also remember the many bad Boucher moments and can't seem to shake them from my memory. Bradley is a big the Raptors should have targeted previously and someone who can put pressure on the rim. White brings scoring and ball-handling off the bench that Flynn simply hasn't provided yet. PredictionThe Bulls have spent all season proving doubters wrong . The defense is not as bad as originally predicted, although it has slipped from top-10 to slightly below-average. The injuries listed above should have derailed the team but they've responded with wins over the Raptors and Blazers this week. Nurse is an excellent coach who knows how to make the necessary adjustments for his team to succeed. How the Raptors performed in the second half last week in Chicago on the road, in the second game of a back-to-back, without VanVleet, down 19 points in the third quarter coming back and taking the lead in the final minutes, was indicative of how well Toronto matches up with Chicago https://www.trprosto..._Loyd_Jersey-13. The Raptors put together a more complete game against Chicago this time, winning 109-98.February 4 vs Atlanta HawksOh look, another back-to-back. 4 games in 5 nights is the type of scheduling the NBA has made a conscious effort to avoid. Unfortunately, a global pandemic can lead to an unexpected canceling of games. As a result, Nick Nurse and his staff will rely heavily on any notes from Monday's game in Atlanta and work with a tired group to try and keep pace in the jumbled East https://www.trprosto...nt_Jr_Jersey-18. At the very least, Atlanta will also be playing a back-to-back.As a Head Coach, Nate McMillan has typically coached well in his second season. With Seattle, he led the Supersonics to a 7-game improvement. With Indiana, McMillan had the Pacers improving by 6 games in his second season. Considering how well the Hawks performed when he took over last season Chris Boucher Jersey, it's no wonder prognosticators were expecting big things from Atlanta this year. -
Ride or Die: My Favorite Blazers Memory
21 March 2022 - 06:38 PM
Here at Blazer’s Edge, we’re taking the opportunity to share our Portland Trail Blazers fandom with our readers. You can read more about it here.Portland Trail Blazers broadcaster Mike Rice was fueling my rage. Chandler Parsons had just scored a layup off a loose-ball scramble underneath the hoop. The Blazers trailed the Houston Rockets 98-96 in Game 6 of the 2014 Western Conference Playoffs First Round. 0.9 seconds remained and the majority of the Moda Center crowd stood silent with hands atop their heads. What unfolded during Parsons’ go-ahead bucket, and what came next, perfectly encapsulated why I hold this team so dear to my heart.Back at my family’s old home in Southeast Portland, my dad, mom https://www.ptbfanst...imons_Jersey-17, oldest brother and I were all watching the game. We were crammed into my mom’s room beside her bed. In June of 2012, at age 50, a ruptured blood vessel in the brain and a stroke took away my mom’s independence. The incident forced her to give up her job as a special education teacher at Franklin High School Cody Zeller Jersey, a position she held for 26 years. To this day, she can’t walk or eat and her hands are too weak to write with a pencil. So during this playoff matchup, making it down to the basement where we had watched games for years was an afterthought. She lived out of my brother’s old room on the main floor. That is how we ended up watching the most pivotal Blazers game in over a decade on the tiniest TV in our house in a room that felt even tinier with all the medical equipment. It was a tight squeeze, but the stress of the back-and-forth game made it impossible to watch alone. In the third quarter we even switched from the national TV broadcast to the local broadcast team of Mike Barrett and Mike Rice because we felt more assured with their familiar voices. Now after Parsons’ bucket, we listened to the feisty Rice voice our pain and frustration by attacking the refs in true “Wild Rice” fashion.Admittedly, I agreed with the refs. I thought that Blazers point guard Damian Lillard didn’t establish himself inbounds when he got a rebound with 28 seconds left and I thought center Robin Lopez flopped on a rebound attempt that left the ball wide open for Parsons. Each replay I saw confirmed my belief with evidence. But the more Rice complained the more I ditched my logic for emotion. By the time the Blazers were coming out of the timeout, my brother and I were cursing the refs alongside the longtime broadcaster. As Blazers fans, we had a lot of pain to feel. Only a 15-year-old freshman at Cleveland High School in 2014, I was just conscious enough to remember the blemish of the mid-2000s Jail Blazers. Then I was fully conscious to stomach the anguish of watching a resurgent, young team crumble too soon due to the paper knees of Brandon Roy and Greg Oden. And although I was not alive in the 70s, 80s and most of the 90s, I can feel the pain that has been inflicted on the franchise since its conception in 1970 https://www.ptbfanst...rexler_Jersey-9. Besides one magical season in 1977, the Blazers’ storied history is rampant with heartbreaks and what-ifs. When you grow up in Portland, the pain is passed down from generation to generation. I can feel the pain of Bill Walton’s broken foot that derailed a dynasty. I can feel the regret of drafting Bowie over Jordan Keljin Blevins Jersey. I can feel the agony of watching a Clyde Drexler-led 90s squad fall short in the Finals twice. And I can feel the still-fresh wound of blowing a 15-point lead in Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference Finals to the Lakers. The freaking Lakers. So as Parsons someone who had been talking trash to the press all series scored that go-ahead basket with less than a second left, it felt like the universe had a vendetta against us yet again.A loss meant the Blazers would have to go back to Houston for Game 7 after holding a 3-1 series lead. 14 years of playoff misery without a single series victory the longest-active drought in the league at the time seemed all but likely to continue. It was too much heartbreak to bear, so looking back, the vitriol in Rice’s words and mine seemed quite appropriate. Because on the flip side of all that pain, there’s a deep, transcendent love for this franchise. This is our team. Ride or die. The inverse of so many lows are incredible highs when they come. There’s something magnetic about this city when the Blazers are on fire. I remember the first time I felt the phenomenon of “Rip City.” It was a 2006 game against the Jazz, just at the start of the team’s major image rebuild and the “Rise With Us” era. Tickets were still cheap and my family went often, but for the first time in my Blazer-watching career, I witnessed a win at the Rose Garden. Fans streamed out of the arena, still cheering with Chalupa coupons in hand. A man sporting a fedora blared his saxophone on the concourse, while my brothers and I high-fived strangers. My dad kept shouting out the window of our car, “BLAZER MANIA IS BACK!”We are a fan base that prides itself on not needing the jumbotron to prompt our chants, on going bonkers for a free Chalupa giveaway in a blowout loss, on being the absolute best in the NBA. As CJ McCollum understood in his 2019 Players’ Tribune article titled Rip City, “it’s not just some rah-rah thing, like they can show up and get loud for games. That’s part of it, but it only scratches the surface.”As the city’s only representative in the big four of U.S. major sports leagues, the Blazers represent an overwhelming source of pride. I tried to pinpoint what makes Blazers fandom different. I landed on how the team embraces and accentuates the identity of this city Damian Lillard Jersey. Portland represents the small-market underdog, overlooked despite the city’s great beauty because it’s tucked away in the Pacific Northwest. Not only that, Portland is also weird, as “Portlandia” has helped reinforce to the nation. The city reveres the arts and hipsters and microbreweries and cannabis. A professional sports franchise doesn’t necessarily fit that mold, yet the Blazers make it in. Undoubtedly, it’s “cool” to root for the Blazers. There’s no pastime that’s more “Portland.” They unite everybody, from the straight-laced business man to the tattooed skater. The skater’s Blazer hat just might be a little more vintage. So for these reasons, when I see the Portland skyline on a TNT broadcast, it’s meaningful to me in a way a fan from New York or Boston would never be able to understand. All this history the deep pain and deep love is present every time the Blazers take the court. Never was it more present than in the 0.9 seconds after Parsons’ layup. It all happened in a blink.Parsons falls asleep. Lillard sprints to Batum, clapping his hands. Batum inbounds the ball to Lillard. Lillard shoots a fadeaway, leaning three-pointer from the left wing. Swish. Absolute eruption. Series over. Back in my mom’s little room my emotions switched from disappointment to ecstasy so fast my mind almost couldn’t comprehend the shift https://www.ptbfanst...th_Jr_Jersey-26. There were still traces of anger in my voice. My screams of “YES! YES!” sounded more like determined yells, a little hoarse, as if I was exorcizing the demons of Blazer pain across generations. I was off my stool, almost falling over onto my mom’s bed as I pumped my fist at the TV. But I’ll never forget what I saw when I turned to my mom in the pandemonium: Laid back in her bed, her feeble arms were raised high above her head, waving with a noticeable force as she screamed with us. I didn’t know she had the physical or vocal strength. Maybe at the time she didn’t. It was one of those moments that makes you realize the power of sports. Then Rice said something that made me smile. “You can’t take it away from us, Callahan!”Just seconds after one of the most amazing shots in playoff history, Rice couldn’t resist taking a shot at Mike Callahan, the referee. It makes me laugh to this day when I watch it again. Nearly eight years later, I have watched the shot so many times I’m almost numb to it, but if I think real hard I can reconjure the feeling of seeing it for the first time. I’m lucky to be blessed with many great sports moments in my life as a fan. I grew up during the hey-day of the Chip Kelly Oregon Duck offense. I was a student sports journalist at Loyola University Chicago when the school made its Cinderella run to the Final Four in 2018. I even got to stand in the locker room, while players and Sister Jean kissed the South Regional Trophy after an Elite Eight victory. And then I got to see Damian Lillard hit another series-clinching buzzer-beater in 2019 en route to the Western Conference Finals. But for the dramatic change of emotions, the exorcism of demons, my mom and Mike Rice, Damian Lillard’s 0.9 second shot is without a doubt the greatest sports moment of my life. At least until the Blazers win a championship. -
Recap: Suns get their revenge in face-off between conference leaders
21 March 2022 - 06:38 PM
In January, Miami took it to Phoenix at the Footprint Center https://www.psprosto...Ayton_Jersey-14, winning 123-100. When the two teams met again on March 9, the Suns played like a team looking for revenge, winning 111-90 behind a balanced effort.First HalfGames against Miami don't quite feel like games against Milwaukee, but I think that's more because Milwaukee is so different from Phoenix in style, where Miami is a bit more similar stylistically. But you can really feel the “#1 vs #1” heavyweight aspect of this matchup.Duncan Robinson is a nightmare to defend, and he started off ablaze in this one, 3-3 from deep in the first three and a half minutes. Miami's first two-point bucket didn't come until around the 8:00 mark Jae Crowder Jersey, which was also the time that Devin Booker got his first bucket since returning from health and safety protocols, a three-pointer.Miami went up 20-10 at the 7:33 mark, and Kyle Lowry was the biggest reason why. It's easy to tell how valuable a floor general like him can be for a contending team, and how big of a difference he'll make for them come playoff time as well, having already won a championship in Toronto. At that point, Lowry had already totaled 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.ESPN reporter Jorge Sedano mentioned at this point that Deandre Ayton was vocal in the huddle, calling for Phoenix to defend with the same energy that Miami was playing with, a very fun narrative to follow. Shortly thereafter, Bam Adebayo got by Ayton for a dunk. At the quarter break, head coach Monty Williams told Sedano that a lot of that energy was keyed in getting back in defensive transition Steve Nash Jersey. After falling behind by 11, Ayton's calls were answered, and Suns put forth a 9-0 run, thanks in part to Mikal Bridges in transition, and Ayton doing dirty work; a screen assist for a three then a put-back to pull within 2 and force a Miami timeout. He's at 9 points and 2 rebounds at this point. Not quite a swim move but when Ayton is attacking glass in this fashion, it's usually a "watch out"
